The Aanas
Subsistence is a way of life for a lot of Alaskans. Cutting fish, wood, learning to drive a boat, and berry picking. Along with these life skills, teaching children and grandchildren to be kind is one of the most important traditions.
This film was created as a part of the “Podcasting & Digital Storytelling” workshop. Podcasting & Digital Storytelling is designed for teachers and school professionals who work with 6th – 12th grade Alaska Native and Newcomer (immigrant and refugee) students, and participating educators will receive support in engaging students in podcasting and digital storytelling as culturally responsive teaching tools.
