Filipino Teachers in Bush Alaska
This video highlights teachers that have chosen to move from their home in the Philippines to teach in Kalskag Alaska. Dale interviews these teachers to find out their biggest challenges, favorite experiences and to collect advice they have for future Filipino teachers making this huge geographic and cultural move.
This film was created as a part of the “Podcasting & Digital Storytelling” workshop. Podcasting & Digital Storytelling is designed for teachers and school professionals who work with 6th – 12th grade Alaska Native and Newcomer (immigrant and refugee) students, and participating educators will receive support in engaging students in podcasting and digital storytelling as culturally responsive teaching tools.
