Teaching in Rural Alaska
Teaching in rural Alaska is a unique experience. Cindy interviews several teachers that made the move to rural Akiak Alaska. She finds out how these teachers view their transition to a village, how location has affected their teaching and what they think of their overall experience.
This film was created as a part of the “Podcasting & Digital Storytelling” workshop. Podcasting & Digital Storytelling is designed for teachers and school professionals who work with 6th – 12th grade Alaska Native and Newcomer (immigrant and refugee) students, and participating educators will receive support in engaging students in podcasting and digital storytelling as culturally responsive teaching tools.
