Bettye Davis High School
East Anchorage High School has been renamed Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School. Honoring Bettye Davis who was a senator and a school board member. The first school to be named after a black woman in the state of Alaska. Her passion for kids, joy and determination makes her an amazing role model for all students.
This film was created as a part of the “Podcasting & Digital Storytelling” workshop. Podcasting & Digital Storytelling is designed for teachers and school professionals who work with 6th – 12th grade Alaska Native and Newcomer (immigrant and refugee) students, and participating educators will receive support in engaging students in podcasting and digital storytelling as culturally responsive teaching tools.
