Remembering the Workers

This film explores the history of Filipino Cannery Workers Unions through the lens of the NEFCO vs. Domingo court case, a case that emerged from discrimination in the Uganik Cannery. Features an interview with Cindy Domingo, the sister of defendant and activist Silme Domingo. This film was shot and produced by 7th grader Rey J as part of the Kodiak’s Filipino Community Stories project, a collaborative effort between the Baranov Museum, the Filipino American Association of Kodiak, the Kodiak Island Borough School District, and Media Action.

This project was supported in part by a grant from the Alaska Humanities Forum and the National Endowment for the Humanities, a federal agency. Any view, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed herein do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
