Trailblazing Women of Skagway

A film by Elle McManus.
This film showcases women who are self-employed in Skagway, AK. You will meet inspiring women who work in the arts, hospitality, and services around a town that has been run by women since the late 1800s. These inspiring women will share their stories along with the benefits, traits, and tips for being self-employed. While watching, you will learn about what it takes to be a trailblazing woman of the past and present in beautiful Skagway, Alaska.

This film was created at See Stories’ Professional Development Retreat for Educators in Homer Alaska, in June 2024 as part of the Digital Storytelling as a Culturally Responsive Teaching Tool course.
