Silent Struggles
Students from Bettye Davis East High School spent two months in the spring of 2024 creating this original song and music video during an after school program funded by a Alaska Department of Education Early Development after school programs grant. Students decided to focus on a theme of mental health and the struggles they face in their day to day lives. We couldn’t be more proud of them. They transformed their struggles into beauty and art, and if you listen to their lyrics you will hear them describe that process. We are so grateful for the amazing teachers and administrators at Bettye Davis East High who helped us make this class possible, as well as Tayy Tarantino, Alaskan hip-hop Artist, for helping instruct the class. We are also grateful for Vasco Vea for producing this video!
