See Stories Film Workshop – Professional Production

This See Stories production captures the experiences of students during the 2019 after-school workshop at Bettye Davis High School in Anchorage. The film “Kinship” showcases their journey as they engage in storytelling and filmmaking, highlighting the themes of community, identity, and connection. Through personal interviews and creative expression, the students share their insights and reflections, emphasizing the impact of the workshop on their understanding of kinship and the power of their own voices.

Workshop Info

These films where created in an after-school course for East High School English Language Learner students. Students received professional guidance from Story Works and See Stories to create short cultural films and stories on topics ranging from boxing to cooking, and from family stories to fasting for Ramadan. This project was generously funded by the Alaska State Council on the Arts Cultural Heritage Grant, East High School, and the Anchorage School District.
