Crossroads Alaska

Ronald Reagen and Pope John Paul II had a friendship that changed the world. Not only did they share similar interests and values they believed in freedom and liberty for all people.

With their close friendship and conviction towards freedom and dignity for every individual, they combined forces. Combining the military force Reagen had created during his presidency with John Paul’s newly built political clout they were able to liberate Poland from the Soviet Union and eventually aid its disbandment.

On May 2, 1894 after years of trying to reconnect they were able to meet in Fairbanks, Alaska. Squeezing in a private meeting while refueling on their separate travels. No one truly knows what they spoke of that day but we are told their conversation touched on travel, arms control, East West relations and humanitarian issues.

It seems fitting that these men cross paths in Alaska. A state that symbolizes the ideas both men cherished.
