Arctic Appetites: Shishmaref on the Edge

This film was made by Colton Hadley and the 11th grade of SHH. The film explores the edge of survival of the SHH community. Here, life is deeply intertwined with the rhythms of land and sea, yet the forces of climate change are rewriting this story. We interviewed Darlene Turner- our Migrant Worker/Librarian, with the special participation of Mr. Nayokpuk and kids sharing and capturing the essence of the community’s relationship with climate change and the environment and history. It draws viewers into the story with a focus on both the challenges and the resilience of the people of Shishmaref.
